PTO FAQ’s
What is the purpose of the PTO?
The WWES PTO raises funds to go directly back to into our school. Ways in which we improve our children’s learning experience include…
- Supporting the “Safari Reading Program”
- Paying for 1/2 of our school-wide fieldtrip
- Paying for our teachers to attend their conferences
- Supporting our Cultural Enrichment Program
- Helping our community by providing clothing for the needy during the holidays
- Providing additional fun and family-oriented activities at the school
How does the PTO raise funds?
Our fundraising efforts currently include…
- An annual Walk-a-thon (in the fall)
- Cookie Dough Sales (twice a year)
- Fall Festival (games and food)
- Parent’s Night Out (3-5 times a year)
- Spring Fling (silent auction and food)
- Young Author Night (food)
The PTO also is involved in the following SERVICE areas:
- Thankful Hearts (provide Christmas gifts to those less fortunate)
- Teacher Appreciation
What does it mean to be a PTO member?
As a member of the PTO, you get to help decide which fundraisers the PTO does and helps in the implementation of those fundraisers. You can be as involved in the process as you like. If your passion is the Giving Tree and that is all you want to do – great! We know parents are limited on time. We also know that the PTO can not function without parents. Our goal is to have parents serve in ways that suite their time and talent!
What happens if there is no PTO?
Unfortunately, the PTO can not function without the support of parents willing to volunteer their time and talents. Should there not be a PTO, the school wide field trip would not take place nor there be a Safari Reading Club. Teachers would need to pay for any additional training out of pocket and cultural events would be limited severely. The school depends on the PTO to help support some very vital programs within the school. It is so very important that parents volunteer as they can to help support this organization. When we provide our children with an awesome school experience, we are helping to build their future.
